Q.
Why is water
running into the waste collection tray
during or just after switching off water
supply?.
A. This is normal for this
kind of machine. There is a release valve
system to regulate the pressure through
the group head.
Q.
Water is not
heating up
A. There are three seperate
thermostatic cut out systems on this
machine. They all come into effect at
different temperatures. The first two are
delay cut outs, meaning that if you leave
your machine to cool down it will start
to work again. (This some times happens
when you descale your machine). The last
line of defense of your boiler is a
permanent cut out switch which has to be
manualy pushed.
Q.
Why does water leak
from the group head when making an
espresso?.
A. There can be a few
possible solutions to this problem.
1) The machine is not up to temperature.
(The metal has not expanded to create a
proper seal between the gasket and the
handle.)
2) To much coffee in the handle.
3) Coffee grounds around the top of the
handle.
4) The group seal (gasket) has worn.
Q.Why I cannot get an
espresso coffee with perfect
"crema"?.
A. Again there is no one
thing that will cause this. See the few
examples to see if they apply to you.
1) Your machine is not up to temperature
yet. (Please note just because the
thermostat light has gone out does not
mean the machine itself has got up to
working temperature).
2) Your grind is to coarse. (coffee
expells from the group handle immediatley
and a coffee is finished before 20-25
seconds leaving you with a very thin,
bitter flavoured espresso.
(See
Grinder adjustments further down on the
page).
3) Your grind is to fine. (coffee will
take more than 20-25 Seconds to pour,
leaving you with a very dark brown
"crema". It will be rather
bitter.
(See
Grinder adjustments further down on the
page).
